What is the GMAT?

The GMAT (Graduate Management Admission Test) is a standardized test that most universities consider as a requisite for acceptance in their graduate Studies programs in Business.

The GMAT serves to assess the level of knowledge in English language, analytical writing and math.

Due to the demand and high level of many of the applicants, we recommend preparing beforehand to obtain a score that guarantees your entrance to your business school of choice.

The GMAT is available all year and the score is valid for five years.

The GMAT consists of for sections:

Analytical Writing

The AWA (Analytical Writing Assessment) section is 30 minutes long and the test taker is requires to demonstrate his/her abilities to communicate as soundly and effectively as possible by counterargumenting the contents of a given prompt. Grammar and spelling mistakes should be avoided as much as possible. The score goes from 0 to 6 points.

Integrated Reasoning

The student has 30 minutes to answer 12 multiple-choice questions that require him/her to analyze tables, interpret graphs, and solve two-part analysis problems. The score goes from 1 to 8 points.

Math

In the Math section, the test taker has 75 minutes to answer 37 questions. The score will help determine his/her level of knowledge in algebra, geometry, and arithmetic. The questions include the detection of problems, how they’re solved, as well as choosing the correct answer among a set of different options.

Verbal

In the Verbal section, the test taker has 75 minutes to answer 41 multiple-choice questions that include reading comprehension, sentence correction and critical reasoning.

The combined score  of both the Math and Verbal sections goes from 200 to 800 points in ten-point increments.

The CAT System

The GMAT is a Computer Adaptive Test (CAT), which means that the exam adapts to the test taker’s performance. Therefore, it’s vital that questions are answered correctly from the very beginning. If the student fails to do so, the engine will adapt the level of difficulty accordingly and it’ll be very difficult to recover the lost points by the end of the test.
